A series of images examining the traditional Chinese past time of cricket fighting. The sport dates back from the Tang Dynasty and still remains popluar in modern day China. During the October national holidays it is peak cricket fighting season.

This photo essay looks at two official cricket fighting tournaments. The first in the old watertown of Qiabo and another on China's second biggest island, Chongming. Other venues photographed include Shanghai insect market and streetside cricket fighting in downtown Shanghai.
